Dear Origami

I'm just not that into you. I can't explain it except to say...fold fold fold and bird. big whoop. Yes, I live in Asia. And no, I still don't enjoy following blueprints in my spare time. I'm sure your hungry bats and intricate folded dollar hearts are great fun for someone, but it can't be me. I'm not the one.

But but but...origami's just a hop and a skip from the paper art of POP UP BOOKS and those are super-cool. Or maybe not. I just love all things paper. I fold a mean paper crane, complete with flappin' wings.

I'm going to the Robert Sabuda pop-up book display up at the U, so you can go ahead and toss me in the heap with the oragamists and their birds.

If you see some cool Korean paper that's not too bulky, bring it back for me. I'll make sure you turn a profit.

Oh Robert Sabuda, I have been trying to go to that and everyone I tell looks at me like I'm crazy for wanting to look at pop-up art. I want to go with you Marie! Yep, I'm breaking all sorts of social rules, hijacking the blog to invite myself along. My mom would be mortified.

Some rules were made to be broken.

I feel like the important question to ask is this: Who would want to make a "hungry bat" from paper?
